Our team conducted an in-depth evaluation of potential countries for Medpace to expand its global recruitment efforts, with a focus on identifying locations that would offer both strategic advantages and operational efficiency. We selected India, Argentina, and Norway as our target countries and assessed them using a range of factors including labor laws, total employment costs, workforce availability, cultural norms, and management styles. We also performed a comprehensive PEST analysis—examining the political, economic, social, and technological conditions in each country—to understand the broader business environment Medpace would be entering.
India stood out for its large, English-speaking workforce and established IT and healthcare industries, while Norway offered high-quality talent and regulatory transparency, albeit at a much higher labor cost. Argentina, however, presented the most balanced opportunity. It offered a well-educated talent pool, particularly in healthcare and tech-related fields, along with relatively low employment costs and strong cultural alignment with U.S. business practices. Additionally, its similar time zone made real-time communication and collaboration feasible, reducing friction in global operations.
Ultimately, we recommended Argentina as the ideal location for Medpace’s expansion into Latin America. This project significantly enhanced my understanding of global HR strategy, international compliance considerations, and cross-cultural management. It also taught me how to weigh complex variables to make evidence-based business decisions in a global context.
