A benefit of being in HVCC is that they have a merit page where they allow you to post your achievements and automatically post some of the achievements you get while in college. So, if you want to see any of my achievements from high school and onward you can check out my merit page.
For achievements I am proud of before high school just look down below⤵
One of the coolest experiences I had during middle school was getting exclusive access to be part of our Lego robotics team in the Lego robotics class because of my good academic standing. We worked hard that semester to prepare for the competition at RPI. I learned about coding and got to work with a team to overcome different challenges as well as try to design something that could help real life astronauts. We divided up the work to make sure that everyone was trying to do something. My peers wanted me to be captain, but I couldn't make the time commitment. So, I instead focused my time on the one boring thing that nobody wanted to do...the REDS (Robot Executive Design Summary). My job was to describe the intention and purpose of our robot's design. Wouldn't you know the award we got at the end of the competition was because of that boring thing that nobody wanted to do. I additionally helped with the actual design and coding, but my main focus was on the REDS. While we weren't in first place by the end of the competition we did qualify to move on in the challenge. Unfortunately, the next location was out of state, so I wasn't able to go. My teammates said that we could have won if I was there. I felt bad about it, but it was nice to know how much faith they had in me. I also brought the team morale up, so maybe the team wasn't as motivated without me even if I didn't add that much technical skill. Still it is an experience I will always treasure.
This one might seem a bit silly, but it was my first time having a personal computer. In middle school we went through this kind of goofy educational segment in our Digital design class where we learned to have a Chromebook and not only use it but take care of it. Things like short cut keys I learned in this "Chromecamp" still serve me to this day and have been of tremendous help in saving me time. I will never forget my first Chromebook.
This First Place Ribbon from the Poestenkill Elementary Olympics on June 6th of 2016 means a lot to me. It was the first time I ever got 1st place in something ever. It was for the four person by 200-meter relay race. Not only did I get a 1st place ribbon, but my best friend was on my running team. So, we won together as a team. It's a memory that will stay with me.
