I have created a variety of online learning games and simulations. My game design process includes:
Unpacking the learning objective and analyzing the target audience
Creating an audience-appropriate imaginative or real-world immersive story
Creating a game specification document, and storyboard including UI/UX layouts detailing the different elements of the game including story, characters, content, animation, feedback (right answer and wrong answer behavior), and progress tracking.
Collaborating with developers during the prototype development process through play-testing on multiple devices, until the online learning game is ready to be used by learners.
Utilizing data to evaluate and track the effectiveness and engagement of the online learning game.
I created this online learning game for K-2 learners and provided learners an opportunity to practice high-frequency words also known as sight words. In this learning game, students are immersed in a dog sledding race to the finish line! Students advance through the game by listening to a sight word and navigating their dog sled to burst through the snowballs! This game was created during my time as an Associate Learning Designer at eSpark Learning.
I created this online learning game for 5th-grade learners and provided an opportunity for learners to practice adding and subtracting decimals through a game of decimal kick ball! Students are immersed in an engaging kickball game between the decimal dashers and problem solvers, in which adding and subtracting decimals correctly allows them to score home runs for their team! This game was created during my time as an Associate Learning Designer at eSpark Learning.
