KAHOOT

Kahoot is a free student-response tool for administering quizzes, facilitating discussions, or collecting survey data. It is a game-based classroom response system played by the whole class in real time.

Questions are projected on a shared screen, while an unlimited number of players answer the questions with their smartphone, tablet or computer; creating a social, fun and game-like environment. Kahoot allows for the design of multiple-choice quizzes as well as polls and surveys.

Kahoot! is a really fun and motivating app for learning. Games and quizzes which incorporate videos, images and diagrams can be created by the teacher and then students can compete against each other.

QUIZIZZ

Quizziz is an online assessment tool that allows teachers and students to create and use one another’s quizzes. After providing students with a unique access code, a quiz can be recorded live as a timed competition or used as a homework with a specific deadline. After the quizzes have been completed, students can review their answers. Furthermore, the resulting data is compiled into a spreadsheet to give the instructor a clear visual of the students’ performance in order to analyze trends in which areas might need the most focus in the future.

QUIZLET

Quizlet is a digital tool that allows teachers and learners to create digital flashcards with vocabulary items on one side and the definition or translation on the other. The tool generates audio of the word and an image. Learners can then complete different activities using the flashcards including a spelling activity, a timed matching task and a space gravity game to help them move the vocabulary into long-term memory. These activities are simple in content and graphics, but they can make vocabulary learning just a little bit more interesting and fun.

SOCRATIVE

Socrative is an online student response system that allows teachers to easily create polls, quizzes and other educational exercises for their class and monitor their students’ response and progress in real time.

For getting started users need to sign up with either a teacher or a student account. Also, users can register through a Android or IOS device by downloading the free Socrative app from the app store. After login, teachers can easily assign a room number for students’ to join, and can create single question activities with multiple choice, true/false or short answer questions or quiz based activities and manage them .

At the time when students take the quiz they have to provide their names before starting, which allows teachers to see who all are participating and how well they are doing the quiz as teachers can check out live results as students answer a question.

FORMATIVE

Formative is an assessment tool where students can type, draw, or submit images to demonstrate their understanding.

One of the best affordances of Formative is the ability to support truly reflective, student-centered formative assessment. Use Formative to bridge the gap between school and home via a flipped classroom model with videos, reading assignments, and written responses, or guide students through an e-learning day with meaningful real-time assessment and feedback. View students' progress as they complete graphic organizers, work out math problems, annotate an image, or work through a science lab. Talk with students digitally, giving them the chance to try, fail, try again, and reflect on their learning processes. Create multifaceted lessons that include warm-ups as well as showing work, watching supplemental videos, and submitting written reflections -- all while giving students a chance to show their understanding via writing, drawing, audio, multiple choice, or other modalities. During or after a lesson, use the data you gather to inform future instruction, eliminating the guesswork and surprises that often accompany standard classroom lessons and traditional assessments.
