MedX: Medicine in Extreme Environments is a student-led Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine Group dedicated to exploring the clinical, physiological, logistical, and ethical challenges of providing care in austere, remote, or extreme settings.
When the environment changes, so does the medicine.
From the Rockies to the Sahara to the streets of Halifax, clinicians deliver care no matter the circumstance. With guest speakers, hands-on workshops, collaborative sessions with partner agencies, simulation sessions, and social events amongst MedX's activities, we hope to provide engaging opportunities for students to vast areas of interests that fall under MedX.
Our Interests
Extreme medicine spans a wide range of clinical and operational domains. MedX explores areas where environment, resource limitation, and context shape how care is delivered. As such, our interests range from environment-based care to high-risk/specialized care to human performance factors in providing care under extreme circumstances.
