Community Engaged Learning Needs Assessment
I, along with my group members, had the incredible opportunity to complete the first 8 weeks of our level I fieldwork at Goodwill Aspire, a community based work skill training program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. During this first semester, we conducted a needs assessment of the site to determine how occupational therapy can be best implemented to support site operations and the members who regularly utilize their services. Come next semester, we will implement a program based on our needs assessment and measure outcomes to determine success. We had the opportunity to present our findings to our professors, our peers, other students from various health science programs, and the dean of the John G. Rangos Sr. School of Health Sciences.
Here is a link to my CEL poster summary. This poster is a visual representation of the needs assessment my group members and I have conducted over the past semester at Goodwill Aspire, a community site that serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (fall 2025).
POTA - Hill Day
On March 24th 2026, I had the incredible opportunity to go to the Capital Building in Harrisburg PA for Hill Day on behalf of the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association (POTA), representing Duquesne University. While there, I, alongside my peers, professor Dr. Kasey Stepansky, and those from other occupational therapy institutions across the state advocated for various bills such as the Occupational Therapy Compact Act, and policies protecting our scope of practice, protecting occupational therapy as a professional degree, our voices being valued in the conversation around artificial intelligence in healthcare, mental health recognition in OT, and many more. Speaking directly to senators and legislators was an amazing advocacy experience that not only stretched me professionally but also personally. The conversations held that day will not only shape the future of the occupational therapy profession and my career, but the future of my patients wellbeing.
Involvement
Delight Ministry Leader - Duquesne University
From 2023 to 2025, I served as a leader for Delight Ministry, the Duquesne University Chapter. Delight is a national ministry that seeks to establish an environment for college aged women to vulnerably share about how Christ has been at work in their lives. Through a biblically based curriculum, I led a group of girls weekly through a bible study and girls had the opportunity to share stories of depression, loneliness, heartbreak, identity crisis and pain, but the common theme throughout them all is that even still, God is good. Delight emphasizes in the power of vulnerability and Christ centered community, and how it impacts our relationship with Christ and others.
Team Leader - Duquesne Orientation
I helped to welcome 1,600 new students to Duquesne University's campus, as well as execute 80+ events over the coarse of a week. Through this experience, I established meaningful relationships, strengthen my campus community, and support incoming students and families.
