Hello, my name is Dakoda Mock and I am a occupational therapy student at Duquesne University with a minor in assistive technology. I am finishing my first year of OT school, about the start my second, and am in pursuit of my OTD. I am born and raised in Pittsburgh PA. I would describe myself as driven, dependable, dedicated, calm under pressure, flexible, personable, and a team oriented. Out of all of my strengths, I would say that my biggest strength is empathy. While some see empathy as a weakness, I believe that empathy is a strength that only few truly embody. Empathy has the power to facilitate human connection, something that is so often lost. I feel as though empathy is a key pillar of occupational therapy, as this profession is built upon the remedial power of stepping into one's shoes and walking alongside them through some of their darkest moments. I believe that this gift of empathy is what makes me stand out and I honor this gift with every person I encounter, now, and in the future as an occupational therapy practitioner.
