Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu is an ancient Japanese martial art founded by Minamoto no Yoshimitsu. It has been handed down in Takeda families, and it was firstly disclosed to the public by Sokaku Takeda in Meiji period. The main lineage was inherited by Tokimune Takeda, a son of Sokaku, and further inherited by Katsuyuki Kondo who is the current General Affairs Director, and then Masayuki Kondo who is the current Headquarters Director.
All techniques of Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu include, as the name suggests, the principles of "Aiki". From ancient times the admonishment to "attack where the opponent has been unbalanced" has been a fundamental axiom of Oriental martial arts. In Daito-ryu, the principle of "how to unbalance the opponent" is referred to as "Aiki", and there are many oral transmissions and secret teachings pertaining to the various aspects of "Aiki".
Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu is not just a martial arts but a Japanese traditional "Budo". As a "Budo", through continuous practice, we aim to improve our health, skills, minds and finally enrich our lives.
You can practice at your own pace regardless of age, gender, or whether you have martial arts experience.
It's an opportunity for children and young people to learn good manners, focus, and form a mature person.

I appeared on NHK General TV's "Meikyou shisui" - The Olympics of Martial Arts: Mastering the Art of Mastering.
The program started with a thorough introduction to Daito-ryu,
and then aired a demonstration recorded in the studio.
The serious expressions and surprised reactions of the casts watching the demonstration were inserted throughout the program,
and I felt the wonderful editing.
Broadcast date: Wednesday, May 29th, 11:00pm-11:30pm
MC: Junichi Okada, "Martial Arts Translator"
MC: Kendo Kobayashi
Guest: Manatsu Akimoto
Judoist: Tadahiro Nomura
Judoist: Kaoru Matsumoto
Judoist: Donmai Kawabata
Mixed martial artist: Naoyuki Taira
And the head of Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu, Masayuki Kondo
The representative of the Urawa branch also accompanied the head of the program and took the uke.
It was a wonderful program that was able to fully convey the charm of Daito-ryu.
Unfortunately, it is no longer on the air, but if you have the chance, please watch it again.
