Purpose of JROTC

"The purpose of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program, commonly referred to as “Junior ROTC,” is to instill a value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. "

Mission of Marine Corps JROTC

1. Develop informed and responsible citizens.

2. Develop leadership skills.

3. Strengthen character.

4. Promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security.

5. Help form habits of self-discipline and self-confidence.

6. Develop respect for, and an understanding of, the need for constituted authority in a democratic society.

Unit Mission Statement

“The mission of the Dallastown Area High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC) is to instill in our student cadets our core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and the values of citizenship and service to our communities upon which they can individually build foundations of trust and leadership for which they will be recognized individually and as a unit”

Senior Marine Instructor's Vision Statement

I believe that as an adult, parent, teacher, and leader it is my responsibility to challenge those in my charge to personal excellence by providing leadership opportunities. These opportunities will allow them to explore new possibilities, learn from new experiences, face new challenges, and expand their dreams for the future. As a teacher/instructor in the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (MCJROTC), I enjoy a unique position that allows me to not only teach my students/cadets but to offer them opportunities beyond the average high school experience. I will do my utmost to continually encourage my students/cadets to dream big and work hard to turn dreams into reality. My Marine Instructor and I are committed to providing them opportunities that enable them to grow in self confidence, discipline, individual and group pride, personal maturity and leadership. In so doing, we envision a group of young adults, future leaders, who will be individually and collectively successful and recognized as noteworthy representatives of this program, our school, local community, nation, and global community.
