Communication also allows parents an insight into how their student is doing in class. Letting parents see what their student is learning can make them feel better knowing what's being taught and that their student is learning.

Parent-teacher meetings allow for personal connections to the parents of your student. It also lets the parents meet you in-person which can make communication easier and develops trust.
Take home folders each week let parents see what their children have been working on in class. This allows students to keep all their work on hand incase they need any help in the future.
Calls home can be a more personal approach then an email and still gives ample information time. Calls represent a better connection then emails because there is direct communication between parent and teacher.
Homes visits add a more personal meaning to in-person communication. It lets teachers get a more family like experience with the parents and student.
