The artifact below is a lesson about Chicago History that I made to teach my students for their Illinois Constitution test. I was assessing the Chicago Plan by seeing how many hands were raised when going over the questions on their Google Document. Also, I was assessing by walking about the room to see what students were writing down the answers when I played the video clip. My goal for this lesson was to accomplish for students to learn about the Chicago plan and Chicago's flag. This demonstrates indicator 7I, which states, "Knows assessment and progress monitoring techniques to assess the effectiveness of instruction for each student." This allowed me to take into account what students needed extra help, compared to those who were not paying attention.
Along with lesson planning and assessment, I am making sure my Illinois Learning Standards are connected to my objectives to make an accurate assessment of my lesson. This demonstrates indicator 7B, which states, "Understands that assessment is a means of evaluating how students learn and what they know and are able to do in order to meet the Illinois Learning Standards."
