Provisions for ESP Funding
An amount of $20,000 will be set aside for 2025-2026.
Each post-secondary award will be in the amount of $500.00.
Up to forty (40) awards may be granted in 2025-2026.
Twenty (20) awards will be granted in September 2025 (First round)
Twenty (20) awards will be granted in January 2026 (Second round)
Unused funds will not accumulate from year to year.
Eligibility
Eligible applications will be accepted from current OSSTF/FEESO ESP members in good standing.
This fund applies to ESP members or their dependents for the current school year.
The study may be on a full-time or part-time basis at a university, a community college or other post-secondary educational institution of the candidate's choice.
The student has not previously been a recipient of this grant.
Application Process
ESP member must send an application to the ESP Bursary Committee at d25esp@gmail.com
Bursary applicants must provide a proof of student’s current registration at a college, university or educational institution with their application.
First round applications must be received by 4 pm, September 30, and recipients will be selected by lottery.
Interpretation and administration of the terms of this grant are at the discretion and approval of the Educational Support Professionals Bursary Committee and Executive Council.
Guidelines:
A bursary of up to $100 per course, maximum $200 annually, is available to ESP members
in good standing, for the purpose of professional development or learning opportunity.
Continued availability of this bursary is subject to annual review of funding sources by the
ESP Bursary Committee and Executive.
The course or workshop must be directly related to the member’s current job or possible
future position within the ESP Bargaining Unit.
Applications must be reviewed for approval by the ESP Bursary Committee before the
course begins
Approved amount is payable upon proof of completion of a course during that term
accompanied by applicable receipts.
Benevolent Council exists for the purpose of providing assistance to active members who find themselves in extreme financial need due to: (a) prolonged illness; (b) accident; or (c) extreme emergency.
This assistance can be benevolent relief grants of up to $3,000 in a Federation year or simply advice to recommend other ways/means to alleviate distress suffered by members. No active member may receive more than $6,000.00 in benevolent relief grants from Benevolent Council within a five-year period. Please be advised that Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) consider Benevolent grants to be taxable income to the recipient. In this regard, OSSTF/FEESO will issue a T4A slip to a recipient early in the next calendar year for inclusion with a personal income tax return.
