Before guests head into the Temple of K'uk'ulkan (the aquarium), they may run into series of paths showcasing certain Mayan artifacts, statues, and ruins. Taking inspiration from the Garden of Wonders in Hong Kong, these curiosities are an attraction all of their own.
Meaning the White Road, guests can wonder these white lined paths amid Mayan ruins and artifacts in an effort to solve riddles, play puzzles, and earn medallions. At each exhibit, guests can earn one of 9 medallions once they complete each task, and each objective is related to the scared animals of the Mayan people.
For example, the Hummingbird medallion is earned after translating the myth of the sun transforming into a hummingbird in order to court the moon, and then sliding the stone tablet of the hummingbird around until it meets with the moon (a slide puzzle).
For the Howler Monkey medallion, once again, after the guest translates the myth of the monkey representing the god of music, guests must search of all of the replicas of Mayan musical instruments, and tap their magical bands against them. Make sure to find them all.
For the Jaguar Medallion, guests must solve a giant sun-dial puzzle, and if the myth of the Jaguar sun fighting the lord of the underworld to rise each day was interpreted correctly, then clues within the story should help guests to solve it.
Once 8 of the medallions have been collected (Jaguar, Monkey, Dog, Hummingbird, Frog, Deer, and Turtle), guests will be allowed to enter the Alcove of the Feathered Serpent. Here guests will meet the great and powerful being also known as the feathered serpent messenger of the gods. He will recount the Legend of K'uk'ulkan (the feathered serpent), and how he came to live in the sea. After the tale is done, guests will earn their 9th medallion, the Feathered Serpent. This medallion also unlocks a skip-the-line access at the Sun Stone Spin.
