Travel Review: Intercourse, PA – A Quaint Amish Country Escape
Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Intercourse, PA offers visitors a charming glimpse into the simple and authentic lifestyle of the Amish community. I recently had the opportunity to explore this unique village, and it was a refreshing escape from the bustle of everyday life.
Atmosphere and Ambiance: Intercourse feels like stepping back in time, where horse-drawn buggies roam the streets, and fields of lush green farmland stretch as far as the eye can see. The pace is slower here, and that’s part of its charm. The Amish community's focus on tradition, craftsmanship, and humility is apparent everywhere you go, making for a serene and peaceful experience.
Things to Do: Intercourse may be small, but it’s brimming with things to see and do. The local shops are a highlight. I loved visiting The Old Country Store, where beautifully handcrafted quilts, furniture, and Amish-made goods are sold. Kitchen Kettle Village is another must-visit, offering everything from delicious jams and jellies to leather goods and pottery. Sampling homemade Amish delicacies, like shoofly pie and freshly baked bread, was a culinary delight.
Tours and Experiences: For a more immersive experience, I highly recommend taking a guided Amish buggy ride through the countryside.
