President- Leads the PTA and coordinates the work of the Executive Board and committees so the PTAβs goals are carried out. Chairs Executive Board and general membership meetings, works closely with the principal, signs approved contracts, and represents Cypress PTA with the Leander ISD Council of PTAs and Texas PTA.
Membership- Leads membership for Cypress PTA. Helps families and staff join or renew, plans membership drives, tracks membership numbers, and shares how membership supports our campus. Presides at meetings when the President is absent, according to the order in the bylaws.
Programs- Oversees PTA programs such as family events, student enrichment, and community-building activities. Supports event and program chairs (Glow Party, Movie Night, Multicultural Night, Healthy Lifestyle events, etc.) and helps align programming with PTA goals and campus needs.
Fundraising- Leads fundraising strategy for Cypress PTA. Coordinates overall fundraising efforts such as Read-A-Thon, Spirit Nights, Fall Fest, and Paw Partner sponsorships. Works with fundraising-related chairs and ensures that fundraising plans match the approved PTA budget and goals.
Communications- Oversees PTA communications. Helps share information with families through newsletters, social media, website updates, flyers, marquee, and other tools. Works with chairs and officers to ensure PTA information is clear, timely, and accessible to all families.
Hospitality- Leads hospitality efforts that make Cypress a warm place for staff and families. Oversees allΒ teacher and staff appreciation, Monthly Teacher Breakfasts, Teacher Luncheons, Snack Trolley, and hospitality at PTA events and meetings.
Secretary- Keeps official records for the PTA. Records and maintains minutes for Executive Board and membership meetings, handles official PTA correspondence and notices, keeps key governing documents on file (bylaws, standing rules, policies), and maintains required records for Texas PTA and Leander ISD Council PTA.
Treasurer- Manages the PTAβs finances. Has custody of PTA funds, chairs the budget and finance committee, keeps accurate financial records, writes checks and makes disbursements as approved by the budget, presents regular financial reports, and completes required IRS and state filings. Presents the proposed budget for the next year at the annual meeting.
Parliamentarian- Advises the President, Executive Board, and membership on parliamentary procedure and bylaws so business is conducted properly. Supports bylaws and standing rules review, schedules and orients the Nominating Committee, and serves as an ex-officio member of the bylaws/standing rules committee. Votes only by ballot.Β
πClothes Closet- Coordinates Cypress volunteers for LISD Clothes Closet. Volunteers work three-hour shifts at the district site (River Place) sorting and organizing donated clothing. The chair recruits and schedules volunteers and can add donation drives if desired.
Time commitment: 3 hours per month. Cypress receives assigned Clothes Closet volunteer dates and shares a schedule for sign-ups.
