African Women in GIS (AWiGIS) is a 1000+ pan-African network advancing the participation and leadership of women in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geospatial sciences, remote sensing, and related technologies. Through mentorship, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and professional networking, AWiGIS empowers women across Africa to develop technical expertise and build impactful careers in the geospatial sector.
With members spanning 30+ diverse countries and backgrounds, the organization fosters a collaborative community that supports learning, innovation, and leadership. AWiGIS works to increase the visibility of African women in geospatial fields while creating opportunities for them to contribute to solutions addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges across the continent.
