CHAPERONE and STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

In order to provide a quality experience for both you and our General Public guests please review the following Code of Conduct with the students you chaperone.

  1. STUDENTS NEED TO STAY WITH THEIR CHAPERONES AT ALL TIMES
  2. Chaperones are responsible for the behavior of the students in their group.
  3. Please walk at all times.
  4. For Self-guided and Student Audio Tour Groups please be aware there are no places to store/eat lunches on board. There are park areas close by.
  5. The tables and chairs at the Fantail Café are only for guests that are purchasing food items from the Café. This area can not be used as a gathering area, and no sack lunches are allowed at the tables.
  6. Please remember that you are visiting an historic museum. Be respectful of museum property and maintain appropriate behavior at all times.

Teachers: Here is a link to a Google Doc that will give students their own version of the article "The History of Communication Security and the USS Midway." This way you can use the article as a Close Reading assignment using Google Docs.

In addition to the YouTube tutorial to the left, here's a link to text-based instructions for using Google Docs for Close Reading.

This is a fun activity you can do with students to introduce the concept of a Venn diagram. The lesson utilizes hula hoops where kids physically place their shoes into the circles to learn about categorization. The same could be done with sidewalk chalk or other age-appropriate items.
