What is our issue?
We are focusing on our issue of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is the use of a device to bully someone through chats or messages. We decided on this topic because we thought it was a big problem. We figured that it would be an interesting topic for us. Cyberbullying started to rise when Covid-19 started. It started to rise because of Covid-19 people were using their devices more often and started to communicate with people online.
Also, according to the data from a survey that was conducted by the Indonesian Internet Service Producers in 2021, about 25% of Indonesian Internet users have experienced cyberbullying. This was a truly big increase from the survey that was conducted in 2019, in 2019 15% of Indonesian internet users experienced cyberbullying. That means it is a 10% increase, taking the population of Indonesia which is 273.8 million as of 2023, and 204 million that use the internet which means the number of people that have experienced cyberbullying is about 51,000,000.
Why did we choose cyberbullying?
We chose cyberbullying because we think it is a big problem. When the pandemic started cases of cyberbullying started to increase more because we all used our devices more often. We felt passionate about the issue and decided to choose it. Some of us didn't want the topic so the others had to convince them. In the end, we choose the topic.
