Our Focus
We are dedicated to unraveling the complex processes that cyanobacteria use to capture and utilize sunlight. Our mission is to advance the understanding of photosynthesis, photoprotection, light perception, and regulation in these key photosynthetic microorganisms. Our work spans from uncovering the fundamental aspects of cyanobacterial light-harvesting and energy conversion to exploring their potential applications.
Our research follows two main lines:
Fundamental research on cyanobacterial light-harvesting and photosynthesis, revealing how these organisms adapt and thrive under diverse light conditions.
Applied research to bioengineer cyanobacteria into efficient, solar-powered microfactories for sustainable biotechnological applications.
We use a wide range of methods to study photobiology and cyanobacteria, including molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology, physiology, and biophysics.
