President --Shayan Akter

Hey, how's it going? ... Sike, I can't actually hear you through the screen!

Anyway, my name is Shayan Akter, your 2019-2020 American Red Cross President! I'm excited to be working with the rest of the officers to give you the quality Red Cross experience you deserve! If you are wondering what I'll bring to the table, don't worry! I shall acquire the tastiest cat photos and gifs to grace the weekly slideshow! Not enough? Beggars can't be choosers!

If you haven't noticed already, I'm really, REALLY into cats, but not in that way ;) . Some stray kitties live in my neighborhood and play in my yard sometimes. They are absolute treasures and I stare at them all the time.

Besides my undying love for cats, I'm really into anime and video games. If you ever want to talk about the latest seasonal anime, hit me up. I know the good stuff since I have the most superior taste! In terms of video games, I'll play about anything. Recently, I've been playing Smash Bros Ultimate and Super Danganronpa 2. Yeah I know, I'm a weeb. :(

VICE PRESIDENT -- CHRISTINE XU

Annyeonghaseyo! Ji ireum-eun Christine imnida :) I am currently a Junior (woo!! class of 2021!!) and I will be serving as your VP for the 2019-2020 term :))

I am so excited for the year to come because I can't wait for you to see what's in store for our club. Personally, I am a person that likes to give a lot -- friends, family, community -- whatever it may be. Besides that, I like to watch a ton of romance type of things, especially korean dramas (if you couldn't tell by the intro). You know that feeling you get when you just see like the man of your dreams? HAHAH, but in all seriousness I really enjoy being active. Obviously eating is like a must and with all the food in this world, I would die to eat forever and not get fat. Sadly that's not how it works so send me a text if you wanna go out do anything-- eating or exercising!!

If there was one thing that you had to know about me, I'm a complete VSCO girl. I do everything for VSCO and it's really bad. Aesthetic is all I go for and it doesn't always work out that way, but catch me with my Hydroflask with friendship bracelets on them and my birks and my north face backpack and my scrunchies LOL.

It seems like I have a lot of time of my hands to have fun and I think the most essential part of life is to experience thrills and make the most of it, especially in highschool. I am wishing you the best 2019-2020 school year ever! Do what you love and don't forget to put yourself first. School isn't just about studying, but making new friends and having fun too; Red Cross is where you'll be able to experience both ;))

CO-SECRETARY -- AIDEN KELLY

Howdy y'all! My name is Aiden Kelly and I am your Co-Secretary of CVHS American Red Cross for the 2019-2020 Officer Board. This is only my second year in Red Cross and I have already fallen in love with it. Not only does Red Cross let you get to spend time with your friends at events, it also lets you feel really good in the process because you know you are giving back to the community. It is also a really good community that makes you feel incredibly welcome.

I guess this is the part where I am supposed to tell you about interests, right? I like to spend a lot of my time inside on my computer or on my phone. I watch a lot of youtube videos and look at memes, but I mainly just watch anime. Some of the great animes that I have seen are Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ping Pong the Animation, Serial Experiment Lain, and Mononoke. Out of all of them I would recommend watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, it is very good :). At this point you probably just think I am a nerd who never leaves his bedroom, but I promise I do other stuff! I like to go camping and fishing a lot. During the summer I will spend all the time that I have going camping. Some of my favorite camping places are in Plumas National Forest and in Stanislaus National Park. I am also am really into fashion. I like classic menswear style and I spend the majority of my money on the clothes and shoes that I wear. If you’re still not convinced that I’m not just an anti-social nerd. I also have bees! About two years ago my dad got a beehive for my mom’s birthday, and ever since then my dad and I have been occupied with maintaining them. So if you ever need honey you know where to go ;).

CO-Secretary --Hannah Pilgrim

Hey y’all! I’m Hannah Pilgrim. I am currently a Junior at Castro Valley High School and I will be serving as your co-secretary for the 2019-2020 Red Cross Board. I play varsity tennis at the school and play club tennis year around. In my free time (which never happens) I love to sleep, watch Netflix, and hang out with my dog. I enjoy learning new things and love to try new things. Enough about me.

Since joining the Red Cross, I began to fall in love with volunteering. Volunteerism opened me up to new experiences and friends. I hope to make your experience with the Red Cross the best it can be. I am looking forward to meeting all of y’all at volunteering events and around school. If you have any questions or just wanna say hi feel free to come up to me, I don’t bite. Treasurer -- Connie Shen

Hey everyone! My name is Connie Shen and I will be your 2019-2020 Red Cross Treasurer! I am currently a Sophomore and a Junior next year. I’m super excited to meet and interact with everyone in the club. This club is unlike any other and I immediately felt a connection upon joining. I want to help everyone find their place in our big Red Cross home just like the previous officers. Being in Red Cross, I have gotten to meet people and make unforgettable memories through all the volunteer events and weekly meetings.

Anyways, here’s a little about me. I don’t like sleeping early and don’t need much sleep (I know crazy!) Photography and editing are my favorite things to do so HMU if you want to go out and take some photos! I enjoy running and doing anything sports related! I joke around most of the time and can say some really stupid stuff (like really stupid). Any puns, jokes, or pick-up lines make me laugh instantly! I would love to meet more people and make more new friends! Don’t be afraid to talk to me or say hi to me if you ever see me (I promise I don’t bite)! Feel free to start a conversation about anything or ask me any questions, Red Cross or non.

On another note, I am grateful for the opportunity of being Red Cross Treasurer! Alright, that’s enough about me. Public Relations -- Ada Chen

Hello! Hola! 你好! I am Ada Chen and I will be serving as your 2019-2020 Public Relations! As your Public Relations I will definitely keep everything posted and updated on the social media accounts just for you guys. By doing this I anticipate that the social media accounts will be very helpful to you just like the website! I hope that I will make many new member friends while doing the things we love together :D !

Although I definitely have Red Cross as my passion, I also have many other random hobbies. I am in choir even though I’m not that good and honestly don’t know how I even made it to La Cavatina, but I’m not complaining. I absolutely LOVE spending time with kids, because they’re just so small, pure and the actual CUTEST! I also enjoy listening to some good old k-pop and watching anime or kdramas. However, I swear I’m neither a weaboo or a koreaboo :).

Historian -- Delenn Block

Hi everyone! My name is Delenn and I am very excited to be serving as your 2019-2020 Red Cross Historian. I can’t wait to work with my fellow members and hopefully get to know everyone who is a part of the club. A little bit about me is that I love volunteering and taking photos. I’m also a big fan of crime documentaries and horror movies so if you have any recommendations let me know I’m always open to watching new movies no matter how old or cheesy they may be. I’m definitely a cat person and I enjoy spending my free time watching movies with my cats or attempting to teach them tricks even though they never learn and are just in it for the food. I also enjoy talking to new people and making new friends so if you ever see me around be sure to come up and say hi I’d be happy to talk to you. Let’s make this year amazing!

Committee Chair -- Alex Tam

Bonjour! Aloha! Hey hey hey! I’m Alex Tam and I will be your Committee Chair, along with Ethan, during the 2019-2020 school year! As Committee Chair I will be helping out with events and pretty much everything else that the other officers need help with. I am currently a junior (Go class of 2021!) I have been told that I can come across intimidating, but I promise you that I’m not mean and I definitely don’t bite. If you have any questions, want to talk, or hang out just hit me up or find me around the school. I am pretty busy outside of school, but I will respond to you guys.

A little bit about me: I am big fan of Marvel, Harry Potter, and Disney. I also love dogs and boba. I actually have two dogs of my own, Marvel and Cookie. Another thing: I love the outdoors, although I tend to stay inside doing other things. I love to walk my dog, bike, and play outside. I absolutely love the sunshine! My main hobbies include: dance, tennis, choir, and of course Red Cross. I have been playing tennis and dancing for twelve years now!!! Through my dedication to these things I have been able to make the tennis team, and I even teach my own dance classes!!! I will be applying this hard work, determination, and dedication to Red Cross in order to make your experience super fun!

To wrap it all up, if you ever need someone to talk to I will always be around or if you are bored and want to get some boba I’ll come with you! The only requirement is that we have to take a photo afterwards so that we can preserve all of the great memories that we will make together! Committee Chair -- Ethan To

Hello to whomever is reading this currently! My name is Ethan and I’ll be serving as one of your Committee Chairs for the 2019-2020 Red Cross Board (along with Alex)! ;) Right now, I’m a sophomore at CVHS and I’m really enjoying the high school experience (even though I miss preschool and taking naps 24/7). As one of your Committee Chairs, it is my job to help out the other officers and perform other tasks as well!

Here are some random facts about me: I’m a choir nerd! I love singing a lot. I do it like everywhere I go LOL. Even though my voice does not sound that great, and you’d probably need new ears if you heard my voice, it always cheers me up whenever I sing. :)

I also love food, friends, and my family. Ahh yes, the three best things that start with an F. When you combine food, friends and family, you get a major uwu. Okay this took a weird turn but I absolutely love trying new foods and I love hanging out with my friends/family because they make me happy and joyful.

I’m chinese! I absolutely love chinese culture, but I mostly LOVE the food. I can understand cantonese, but I can barely speak it :( and my parents always make fun of me for it LOL.

Okay now that you’ve read some of these things about me, you have probably realized I’m really boring haha. Anyways, I’m legit so excited to be one of the Committee Chairs for this upcoming year and I can’t wait for what is in the future for me, and the other red cross officers and members.
