- What are the sleeping accommodations?
- Adventure Camp offers a diverse range of sleeping accommodations. The most common is a large green canvas open wall tent (no netting), on a metal tent frame, mounted on a wooden platform. Each open tent has 2 canvas cots. Other sleeping areas include the Western Fort, the Mountain Cabins, the Yurts, and the Teepees. Those areas offer bunk beds with mattresses or canvas cots. Campers need to bring a light sleeping bag. Linens are not provided. Accommodations are assigned based number of girls and adults. Please consider both the girls comfort level sleeping outside in an open tent vs sleeping in even warmer buildings (may want to bring a fan)
- What are the showers and bathrooms like?
- Adventure Camp has hot showers and flush toilets available for all campers. Campers in the Baloo Tent Village, Yurts, and Mountain Cabins shower at the Castle (Pool Complex). Campers in the Teepees and Mowgli Outpost shower at the Western Fort. Those facilities, Navas Dining Lodge, and the Welcome Pavilion also have flush toilets. Five (5) primitive latrines are also strategically placed around Camp.
- What do we eat?
- All meals are served in Navas Dining Lodge, our Air-conditioned Dining Hall. Nutritious meals are served by our cheerful kitchen staff 3 times a day. The camp is not peanut free. Campers with special dietary needs should communicate with the Camp Director prior to camp. Many campers with special dietary needs decide to bring their own food. There is reserved refrigerator space and a microwave in the camp kitchen to accommodate these needs. The well water is potable.
- What should i expect as far as Spiritual Development aspects?
- A Christian Praise service will be held. A Catholic devotion is also planned.
- Valuables/Cell Phone policy?
- The camp carries no insurance for personal items and is not responsible for loss or theft of personal items. Please label ALL items to make them easily identified as yours.
- Only adults are allowed to have cell phones during camp. If your daughter needs to call home during camp or you need to reach your daughter, the call can be made/received using one of the adult leaders’ phones.
- How is badge work structured?
- Girls will satisfy many AHG Badge Requirements while at Adventure Camp. However, it is the responsibility of the Camp Leader of the Troop, and not the Adventure Camp staff, to certify completion of Badge Requirements. American Heritage Girl completed Badge Requirements will be sent after camp via email.

- Aquatics: PFD relay, Kickboard relay, snorkeling, water polo, water safety
- Archery: Basic & Compound Bow, Advanced Archery, Slingshots
- BB Range: Basic BB Shooting, 3D Targets, Advanced BB Guns, Shooting Paintball Guns
- Camp Skills: Knots, map and compass, fire building contest, knife safety, lashing
- Cooking: On a stick, foil packs, box oven, various heat sources
- Handicraft: Build bookends, toolbox, bat house, stool or other provided projects
- Mining: Panning for minerals, identifying rock types, archaeology
- Nature: Hiking, Identifying and caring for forests, plants, animals, birds
- Do you have a Tenderheart program for 2020?
- Yes, this camp is setup for raising 2nd graders to 6th graders
- Can a girl attend without her troop?
- Provisional Campers are individual girls at the Explorer level who attend summer camp without their Troop. We are very excited to be able to offer individual girls the opportunity to attend our camp. Provisional Girls will be added to an already existing AHG Troop who has agreed to take the Girl as part of their Troop for the week
- Any special programming for raising 6th graders?
- OUTDOOR OVERNIGHT OUTPOST (O3 )
- This alternative Monday evening activity is an optional overnight program designed exclusively for Rising 6th grade Explorers. This program begins after dinner Monday with girls carrying their sleeping bags and overnight gear to a prepared outpost in the woods with tents provided, fellowship, skills, fun, and s’mores. They will return before breakfast on Tuesday morning. The program is designed to introduce last year Explorers to squad type camping and prepare them for further adventures as Pioneers and Patriots. Please indicate how many girls are eligible for this program at online troop registration. Girls are not obligated to participate; this is a trial offering meant as a reward and opportunity for personal growth. Registration for this event will be available for Troops at check-in.
- Are there any family activities involved with camp?
- On Tuesday night girls may invite their families to join them at camp for a meal and show them around camp. The Troop must have a total count to Camp Director by lunchtime Monday in order to assure enough food is prepared.
- The meal cost is ~ $7.00 per person. Guests are welcome to arrive at 5:00 pm. Guests should park at the Administration parking lot. They will register and pay for their meal, then receive a wristband.
- Guests are invited to attend the closing campfire, which begins after dinner. It will be a series of skits and songs performed by the Girls. There will be awards and stories presented and told by the staff. All guests need to be out of camp following the campfire. If Girls or Troops are leaving early they must sign-out with the Camp Director.
- What is your wait list policy?
- Registration is closed on July 10, 2020. All registration received after that date will be accept as room becomes available.
- When is Payment Due?
- Early registration is due May 25, 2020
- Regular registration is due July 10, 2020
- Is there a sister cap?
- Due to the registration cost structure, including facilities costs, we are unable to provide a discount for multiple registrations within a family.
- Can my child receive mail at camp?
- Daily deliveries and collections are made at camp. Outgoing mail should be dropped off at the camp office. Incoming mail will be distributed at the dining hall. Mail to campers should be addressed as follows:

- Is there a refund policy?
- In the case of death of an immediate family member, sickness or injury, or a military transfer we will refund all but $75 of fees paid when verified by a physician, military commander or other such official. We strive to provide the very best program possible. We enter into obligations with our staff and vendors the winter before summer camp. Cancellations after July 1 st undermine our ability to provide our quality program. Reasons such as vacation schedule, summer school and last-minute changes of mind are not acceptable reasons for refunds. Campers who leave during a week of camp will not receive a refund.
