We are excited to bring a new Wilderness Medical Provider (WMP) certification course to Northeast Ohio in the heart of Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP). This course is designed for physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals seeking to build a strong foundation in wilderness medicine.
The WMP is a 30-hour hybrid course that combines self-paced online pre-course modules with 2½ days of immersive, hands-on, in-person instruction. Additional information about the Wilderness Medical Provider program can be found here.
Successful completion of the course earns participants a Wilderness Medical Provider certification, valid for four years. Participants are also eligible to receive 28.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, which may be accepted for continuing education by other licensing bodies, including Ohio EMS and the Ohio Board of Nursing. These credits also qualify toward the Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM) program.
The 2026 course will be held over a reverse long weekend on September 19–21, 2026. Additional information about tuition, registration, course curriculum, and overnight accommodations is available here.
To make attendance as convenient and affordable as possible, we are pleased to offer low-cost, on-site lodging for participants who require overnight accommodations.
