Chris Bazzoli is an emergency physician with the Cleveland Clinic, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, spent a decade as a flight physician with Metro Life Flight, serves as Medical Director for several regional Technical Rescue teams, and is a Medical Team Manager for the FEMA US&R Team OH-TF1. He is the proud product of The Ohio State University, MetroHealth/CCF EM Residency program, and many great mentors and friendships. Chris loves just about everything about the outdoors and is currently contemplating running the Mohican 50mi Trail Ultra. He started the organization years ago in keeping with the Big Tent Philosophy of Dr. Rich Ingebretsen.
Brett Foster is an emergency medicine physician in the Allegheny Health Network. Additionally, he is an EMS medical director and volunteers with the National Ski Patrol, National Cave Rescue Commission, and Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group. Brett completed medical school at Wright State University, residency at Henry Ford Hospital, and EMS fellowship at the University of Louisville.
Mike Packard is a Fire/Medic of over twenty five years, serving as Chief of Valley FD, Fire/Medic with Brecksville FD, SWAT TEMS commander, and USCG Auxiliary.
Alanna Wathen is a Physical Therapist and Clinical Specialist after having earned her degree at Emory University.
Kevin Watkins is an emergency medicine physician at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he serves as an Associate Program Director for the residency and Director of Wilderness Medicine. He serves as the Chair for the Wilderness Medicine Interest Group within the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and on the student/resident education committee for the Wilderness Medical Society. He completed medical school at the University of Toledo and residency at MetroHealth Medical Center/Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He has interests in climate change, heat illness, vector-borne diseases, wilderness toxicology, and medical education. He enjoys spending time hiking, gardening, and with his family.
Nick Lukens is an emergency physician and Assistant Program Director for the MetroHealth Emergency Medicine Residency program. He completed medical school at the University of Nebraska and residency at the MetroHealth/Cleveland Clinic Foundation Emergency Medicine Residency Program. He is the Wilderness Medicine Section Director for MetroHealth Medical Center, the residency wilderness track leader, and lead instructor for our fall medical provider course. He loves the mountains and space exploration, readying for a Denali summit bid in summer of 2026.
Kristi Canzano is a Physicians Assistant and the lead APP for the Cleveland Clinic Medina and Brunswick Emergency Departments. She additionally has worked at the Brecksville Fire Department as a Firefighter/Medic for over twenty years, and has recently started working locums in Montana for a bit more adventure.
Sam Hertz is an emergency medicine physician in the University Hospital Health System. He completed medical school at the Case Western Reserve University and finished residency at University Hospital. He is currently a Clinical Operations and Healthcare Administration fellow at UH.
Jackie Broz is a MICU Registered Nurse at Duke University Hospital, where she also works as a hyperbaric chamber nurse. She completed her nursing degree at Case Western Reserve University and is soon to matriculate into Nurse Anesthetist training.
Tim Sommerfelt is a Paramedic of nearly twenty years with Cleveland EMS, currently serving at the Vice President for the CARE Local 1975 Cleveland EMS Union. He is the founder of Gordon Square CPR, a non-profit teaching layperson CPR and placing AEDs into the greater-Cleveland community. Tim also maintains a small armada of canoes and kayaks, getting onto the water with his wife, daughter, and friends whenever possible.
