Advocacy Statements
The Medical Student Council (MSC) shall maintain a transparent and structured process by which medical students or student organizations may submit proposed advocacy statements on issues related to medical education, patient care, or public health. Proposed statements will be reviewed, discussed, and voted upon by the MSC according to procedures outlined in MSC policy, including opportunities within a reasonable timeline as defined by the bylaws.
Statements approved by the required voting threshold per MSC general quorum policy will be shared through official MSC communication channels with an appropriate disclaimer clarifying representational scope. MSC will provide a summary of discussion materials through internal channels, up to individual members to review before voting.
Guideline: Review of advocacy statements shall emphasize professional tone, relevance to the mission of medical education and patient care, and reasonable representation of the student body, with discussion focused on content validity and potential impact rather than individual beliefs. All approved statements shall be publicly archived to ensure transparency, and MSC-endorsed statements may not be distributed outside of designated official communication channels.
