The Curse Trees in the Curselands need nourishment to grow. That is why once you have crafted a Curse Sapling you need to right click it and give it bonemeal before it can grow.
These trees are very strong though and any blocks in the way of them growing will be deleted without dropping anything.
Curse Leaves will have uses in upcoming updates!
