The Education Technology Field
During the EME: 2040 course, I learned the importance of technology in education. As time progresses, so does technology and how we interact in diverse ways. Through the class, I saw the effectiveness of technology such as Google Suite and Photoshop. Regarding Google Suite, applications like Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Slides, Google Sheets, and others help build an ecosystem that can incorporate different educational sectors. It is important for students of all ages to understand how beneficial these skills are. Moving forward, we see the integration of technology in our lives. This also includes many different workplace settings as well.
Through devices like iPads and computers, students can better grasp information. Educational technology focuses on accessibility, allowing certain students who may struggle with learning to have a more condensed experience. For instance, augmented reality and virtual reality programs are starting to find their footing in the education market. By using these programs, it allows a new level of immersion that was never possible beforehand. The possibilities are limitless, and creativity is boundless, giving the gift of learning in an impactful way.
In a way, education technology introduces to students a foundational knowledge of different programs. These programs are paramount, as they may find themselves wanting more. For example, a student who is taught a program such as Photoshop and enjoys working with the software may end up becoming a graphic designer. Or if there are computer coding classes, a student may want to learn more and become a software engineer. Giving students at an early age the ability to express their interest through captivating experiences will only make them prepared for whatever their future careers may entail.
Technology only accelerates the learning of different software and hardware. Never in a time before had we had access to so much knowledge as we do now. Most of the reason for this is thanks to modern technological advancements such as the internet, web browsers, and virtual reality. As we adapt to the changes in technology, we must also learn how to use it properly. As technology is integrated more with education, the learning experience will only change for the better.
