  3. Challenge student’s current perspectives on global cultures.

  4. Develop an appreciation for global cultures.

This curriculum is designed for lessons to be done in a stand-alone fashion or as a unit. The Around the World and Culture sections introduce the ideas of international agriculture and culture to the classroom. Staple Foods and Food Spotlights focus on how agricultural production ties to culture. The Final Project allows students to research and make a cultural meal of their choosing. Finally, the Additional Resources section contains resources for teachers who want to include more international agriculture concepts in their lessons.

The Food Spotlights consist of three sections:

  1. Overview of production

  2. Country spotlight

  3. An activity

Spotlights currently include rice, sugar cane, coffee, cheese, potato, and prosciutto.
