Summative Assessment Activity
Description: Students will work in groups to create a slide presentation that describes the gender and cultural diversity in their selected sport. The students will be assigned groups and the assignment on the first day of the unit. When the students are assigned peer groups, they will select a sport and create a slideshow based on research including and citing at least 2 academic sources that highlights the country that this sport is popular for men and then popular for women. The students will then include sporting events in these countries that occur at a professional level. They will also include research on how this sport impacts that country’s culture and how.
Outcomes:
Students will create and present a slideshow in their peer group that describes gender and cultural diversity in their selected sport.
Students will work in peer groups using relationship skills to effectively communicate and show respect to others.
State Standards:
SEL Standard- 2.B.5e-Design a project that shows how your class or school is enriched by different cultures.
ELA Standards- CC.5.SL.4-Report on a topic or text or present an opinion, sequencing ideas logically and using appropriate facts and relevant, descriptive details to support main ideas or themes; speak clearly at an understandable pace.
P.E/Health Standards- 21.B.6f-Work cooperatively with others. 21.B.7f-Recognize individual differences in performance within a group.
Rubric:
Students will be provided the rubric when the assessment is assigned, and the rubric will be completed based on slideshow and presentation.

A- 18-20/20
B- 16-17/20
C- 14-15/20
D- 12-13/20
F- 11 or Below/20
