The Department of Psychological Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley launched a new Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology. Our program follows the scientist-practitioner model to develop bilingual clinical psychologists with expertise in mental health assessment and treatment of Hispanic/Mexican American populations.
The program also invites applications from non-Spanish-speaking students who have an interest in working with the Hispanic/Latino population from both a clinical and scientific point of view.
Students in the program will train at the university’s new Edinburg Psychology Clinic, a state-of-the-art facility with over 15 treatment rooms equipped with technology for live supervision and six research labs. Students receive research mentorship from program faculty members, who have active research programs in such topics as:
· child/adolescent trauma
· intimate partner violence
· mental health of immigrants and refugees
· mental health service efficacy and access

The Center for Children and Families at Florida International University announces Summer Treatment Program Counselor positions for 2026. Positions are available at our Miami location. More than 100 positions are available. Positions are available for undergraduate students, postbaccalaureate students, and graduate students.
The Summer Treatment Program (STP) provides services to children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Conduct Disorder, Oppositional-Defiant Disorder, learning problems, and related behavior problems. By participating in the STP, students will:
· Learn evidence-based techniques for working with children who have disruptive behavior disorders
· Gain valuable clinical and research experience to prepare for career and graduate school
· Help children to improve their social skills, sports skills, and academic skills
· Network with faculty members at the Center for Children and Families, as well as students from across the country.
Positions are available in programs serving children in Pre-K through 6th grade. Children and counselors are assigned to groups of four or five counselors and 10 to 15 children of similar age. Children participate in a variety of classroom-based and recreational activities. Staff members implement an extensive behavior modification treatment program that includes feedback and associated consequences for positive and negative behaviors, daily and weekly rewards for appropriate behavior, social praise and attention, appropriate commands, and age-appropriate removal from positive reinforcement.
Counselors deliver the treatment components during daily sports-based recreational periods in which children practice and play soccer, baseball/softball, and basketball. Counselors plan and conduct skill drills, provide appropriate coaching, model appropriate sports skills, and encourage and reinforce effort, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. Counselors also assist with daily social skills training sessions, conduct problem solving discussions, and assist with the implementation of daily report cards and individualized treatment programs. Staff members will also be responsible for recording and entering daily records of children’s behavior and response to the treatment. Staff members will work under the supervision of experienced faculty and staff members and will receive regular feedback about their performance.
Experience in the STP may be helpful to prepare students for further study or employment in the fields of education, mental health, physical education, pediatrics, psychiatry, recreational therapy, behavior analysis, social work, counseling, and related areas. Staff members have uniformly reported the experience to be the most demanding but also the most rewarding clinical experience of their careers.

About Us: As an extension of the AACN Relevance 2050’s Initiatives, the Student Pathways Subcommittee (SPS) aims to increase the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students into neuropsychology. In line with our mission, we hope to provide the necessary resources and support to assist undergraduate students and postbaccalaureates from diverse and historically underrepresented backgrounds* in entering the field of neuropsychology. Accordingly, we are excited to announce that, in collaboration with New2Neuropsychology (N2N), we are providing Graduate School Application Scholarships for individuals applying to doctoral programs with a focus in neuropsychology.
*SPS and N2N conceptualize diversity broadly, including but not limited to individuals from varying races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ages/generations, social/economic classes, disabilities, religious or ethical value systems, and national origins.
What: To help offset the costs of graduate school applications, we are awarding up to forty $550 scholarships to undergraduate students and post-baccalaureates from underrepresented backgrounds who will be applying to clinical and counseling psychology doctoral programs, plan on pursuing neuropsychology as a specialty, and demonstrate financial need. Please note, individuals who have previously been awarded this scholarship are not eligible to receive this scholarship again. International students are eligible to apply. Please also note that you will be asked to submit a list of your prospective programs when submitting your application.
How to apply: Deadline September 15th. Find out more here: https://theaacn.org/relevance-2050/graduate-school-application-scholarship/

What PREP offers:
10 interactive modules with videos, tools, and knowledge checks (Topics such as: How do I join a research lab? What do research assistants do in psychology research labs? Ethics & Professionalism.)
Flexible use: self-directed by students or integrated into your courses
Certificates of completion for students who finish all modules
Ways to use PREP:
Assign PREP modules directly in your course
Share the program with students for self-paced exploration

We are pleased to share an exceptional opportunity for your students who are considering doctoral programs and research careers aimed at advancing real-world impact. In 2017, the University of South Florida established the Ph.D. program in Behavioral & Community Sciences—an interdisciplinary program designed for students with clearly defined research interests and ambitious professional goals. As of Fall 2025, we will have enrolled 56 highly qualified students and celebrated the graduation of 24, with additional graduates anticipated by the end of the year.
We invite your students to consider applying to our 2026 cohort.
The program provides rigorous academic preparation alongside mentored research experiences that yield concrete scholarly products, including peer-reviewed publications, professional conference presentations, and competitive grant proposals. Students work closely with faculty whose expertise spans behavioral health, mental health, substance use, developmental disabilities, and related fields.
To support strong student-faculty alignment, we encourage applicants to initiate early contact with at least two faculty members whose research aligns with their interests. These preliminary conversations provide applicants with the opportunity to explore potential mentorship and strengthen their statement of intent accordingly.
Information about our faculty’s research areas is available here:

Dr. Jonathan Rottenberg, PhD, is seeking a full-time research support specialist (RSS) for the Better Outcomes Laboratory. This new laboratory examines long-term functioning and well-being after depression and related mental health conditions, with particular focus on understanding good outcomes. This position will provide an excellent research and training environment to learn about emotion theory and research more broadly.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform research and gain experience in study design, recruitment, data collection, data interpretation, and data analysis, clinical interviewing, and scientific report writing. This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in clinical psychology or a related field. The RSS will work closely with the Principal Investigator (Dr. Jonathan Rottenberg) and project staff on studies of long-term outcome in depression. The Rottenberg Group strongly values mentorship and professional development, and the incumbent will have opportunities that lead to independent projects, co-authoring publications, and presenting at conferences. A two-year commitment is preferred, with an initial appointment of one year and renewal contingent on available funding, available work, and successful performance.
Primary responsibilities will include recruiting and screening study participants; collecting data (online surveys, clinical interviews); data management and data cleaning, interpretation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data; conducting of literature reviews; preparation of scientific articles; training and supervising undergraduate research assistants.
While position responsibilities vary, every member of our community is expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by communicating across differences; being cooperative, collaborative, open, and welcoming; showing respect, compassion, and empathy; engaging and supporting others regardless of background or perspective; speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and supporting work/life integration of oneself and others.
Successful applicants will have experience in conducting or assisting with psychology research and have strong organizational and writing skills.
