The confirmation program for 2016 was extended over two Sundays (May 29 and June 5). Erik Burkhardt gave his confirmation statement during 10:30 worship on May 29. Thanks to Paul Kiel for spontaneously making a video clip of Erik's statement, but since the audio track is a bit faint we're including a PDF version of Erik's statement as well.
Mason Atkinson gave his confirmation statement on June 5. The video below includes Mason's statement as well as Erik's. Both confirmands offered thanks to all those adults in the church who had taken the time and effort to help with their confirmation process and share from their own lives.
The annual Youth Sunday event was held on March 20, 2016. The youth of the church presented the entire 10:30 worship service. The video here shortens some of the longer parts of the service that involved little speaking, and the singing of the hymns is omitted. But the essence of the service is retained in this 34-minute film.
Special thanks to Karen Withem for help with the filming. Because of the rapid back and forth usage of the two pulpits, it's impossible to get a good video with a single camera. Karen's knowledge of how to handle such situations and her steady camera in the back of the sanctuary made this film possible. Enjoy!
The 2015 Christmas pageant was presented on December 13 by a large cast of children, a few adults, and one baby. This is a slightly condensed of the worship service on March 15, 2015. The entire service was led by CUCC youth. The video below (34 min.) shows the entire service except for singing of some hymns and other songs by the congregation, and portions of long periods of silence such as silent prayers and the offering.
On August 23, 2014, Śānti Matthews and church youth organized a dog walk which included a blessing of the animals. This event took place at Lake Johnson in Raleigh, and the dog walk explored the western half of the Lake Johnson loop, a scenic part of the trail about 2 miles in length. The blessing of the animals was held about half way through that 2-mile loop.
Confirmation ceremonies were held on June 8, 2014. Those confirmed in the 2014 ceremony were Greer Eckard, Corinne Lipman, Cammy Riemann, and Teresa Worley. The entire ceremony, including remarks by Pastor Steve Halsted and confirmation teachers KayJay Covington-Jones and Deborah Lipman and presentations by the confirmands, is included here (30 minutes). Thanks to Śānti Matthews who leads the youth program and who helped guide the confirmation program.
On April 17, 2014, CUCC hosted the Maundy Thursday service presented by members and choir from both CUCC and St. Paul's Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The video shown here is the entire service except for the fact that the serving of communion has been condensed in the video. The video runs approximately 57 minutes.
At Community UCC there is a long tradition of celebrating Palm Sunday by waving palm branches during a processional into the sanctuary. Participants include Sunday worshipers as well as the choir which leads the way. In 2014 Palm Sunday fell on April 13, and the processional is shown here.

The audio program available below is slightly edited. Portions of the program which produced no audio have been omitted'
The 2011 Christmas pageant is a production of the Sunday School program at CUCC and was filmed by Lavon Page. (27-minute video). This year showed the biggest choir of angels that we've ever had in a CUCC Christmas pageant. Mary is played by Erin Kiel and Joseph is portrayed by John Robertson.
The script for this short video was written by the kids who performed it. They were doing it just for fun, as there was no audience other than the video camera. The participants are Mary Ann Rogers-Witte, Bert Lamb, Ian Larrea, and Gabe Perrota. The teacher and videographer was Lavon Page.
