The Lion program is for boys and girls who are in kindergarten or are age 5-6.
This program includes exciting indoor and outdoor activities specifically designed for kindergarten boys and girls and their adult partner. Adult partners are there to support and guide, and allow the Lion Cubs to discover risks and rewards under adult supervision. Lion Cubs learn by doing. As he/she learns and grows, the relationship with their adult partner grows as well.
At the conclusion of their kindergarten year, the Lion Cub will transition to Tiger Cubs where they'll earn the Bobcat badge and continue through Cub Scouting.
A Scout must earn his/her Bobcat badge before they can advance to any rank, i.e. Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelo, or Arrow of Light by completing the Bobcat requirements, which include:
• Learn and say the Cub Scout motto, the Scout Oath, and the Scout Law and tell what they mean;
• Show the Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake and tell what they mean; and
• With a parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet, How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide.
The Tiger rank is for boys and girls who are in first grade or are age 6-7.
To earn the Tiger badge, a Scout must complete six required adventures with their den or family and one elective adventure of their den’s or family’s choosing. As the Scout completes each adventure, they will receive the adventure loop for that adventure, which they can wear on their belt. When a Scout has completed the seven required adventures, they can receive the Tiger badge.
The Wolf rank is for boys and girls who are in second grade or are age 7-8.
To earn the Wolf badge, a Scout must complete six required adventures with their den or family and one elective adventure of their den’s or family’s choosing. As the Scout completes each adventure, they will receive the adventure loop for that adventure, which they can wear on their belt. When a Scout has completed the seven required adventures, they can receive the Wolf badge.
The Bear rank is for boys and girls who are in 3rd grade who are 8-9 years old.
To earn the Bear badge, a Scout must complete six required adventures and one elective adventure. Their parent or guardian and den leader approves each requirement by signing their book, and they receive an adventure loop for each adventure. When a Scout has met all requirements, they can receive the Bear badge.
The Webelo rank is for boys and girls who are in 4th grade (or reached age 9).
Webelo Scouts get to work on the five required Webelo adventures and choose one of the 18 elective adventures that are shared by the Webelo and Arrow of Light ranks. When a Scout has done the requirements for an adventure, the Webelo den leader, rather than a parent, approves most of the adventures. For each adventure a Scout completes, they receive a pin to wear on the Webelo colors or on their hat. When the Scout has met all requirements, they can receive the Webelo badge.
Arrow of Light den is for boys and girls who are in 5th grade (or reached age 10).
The highest rank in Cub Scouting is the Arrow of Light for boys and girls. Earning this rank prepares them to become a Scout BSA. Scouts must complete four required adventures and one elective adventure to earn the Arrow of Light rank. For each adventure a Scout completes, they receive a pin to wear on the Webelos colors or on their hat.
The Arrow of Light badge is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Scouts BSA uniform when a Scout graduates into a troop. Adult leaders who earned the Arrow of Light rank when they were young may also show their achievement by wearing a special square knot on their adult uniform.
