FAQ's

01

How do I join CUA’s Mock Trial Team?

Applications for the Team are open in Late August to anyone, whether you are an incoming first-year or a returning upperclassman. We highly encourage you to attend our Interest Meeting at the beginning of the year along with visiting us at the Fall Festival! Once you complete the application, and attend the Interest Meeting, you will receive further information about your acceptance. Upon acceptance, a student is considered a member of the organization. The best time to join the Team is at the beginning of the academic year, however, the door to join the Team is always open!

02

Do I need Mock Trial, Public Speaking, or Debate experience?

Not at all! Above everything, we simply are looking for students with the drive and passion to want to learn.

03

How much of a time commitment is CUA Mock Trial?

CUA Mock Trial represents a substantial time commitment, typically much more than other student organizations. We practice two days a week for two hours each practice; this varies between weekdays and weekends. Along with traveling to compete throughout the year, there will be the occasional meetings to further the growth and success of the Team. Finally, as each competition gets closer, we may add a few additional practice meetings or prolong the already scheduled meetings for better preparation.

04

Is there a maximum of members the Team can have?

There is not! While the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) limits 10 members to a Team, we have had 2 teams compete in the past as well as members not compete and serve as an advisor. No matter the amount of members, there is a vital spot for you!

05

Does CUA Mock Trial cost money or membership fee?

At this time, CUA Mock Trial does not cost money or have a membership fee. We strive to not add a financial burden on the team members. There will always be open communication regarding the financial status of Team and what possible needs we may need.
