What is Mock Trial?

Annually, CUA Mock Trial receives a case from AMTA (alternating between criminal and civil) that we, along with other participating Universities across the country, work with throughout the academic year. Students take on the role of attorneys and witnesses and compete against other teams in front of two or three judges. CUA Mock Trial crafts legal case theories, drafting opening and closing arguments and direct and cross-examinations. Consistently kneading the facts and information of the case, the goal is to foster critical thinking skills, among other vital skills.

"Mock Trial is an amazing team where not only do you learn real-world skills like public speaking and problem-solving, but you also develop an incomparable community with a group of friends that you can rely on and are invested in your growth both within and outside the team." - Mia Beldner '26
