Consent the patient, talk to the nurse (for Ellison and Gray) and technologist, and get the patient ready.
Sign a preprocedure sedation evaluation (see below)
REVIEW THE GUIDES BELOW to navigate Epic
Note: some things are in flux. Currently (July/2023), the following rules are in place:
Surgical pathology orders:
Ellison: put in by the CT technologist
Gray: put in by the CT technologist
Yawkey 3: put in by the MSK Fellow (place orders before walking there; remember to mark "Frozen" if that's the case)
Microbiology orders:
Ellison: put in by the MSK Fellow
Gray: put in by the MSK Fellow
Yawkey 3: put in by the MSK Fellow
Cytology orders:
Ellison: put in by the CT tech (usually - confirm with them) or MSK Fellow
Gray: put in by the CT tech (usually - confirm with them) or MSK Fellow
Yawkey 3: put in by the MSK Fellow
Use printed labels for all forms. The bar code allows for faster patient entry and is important for billing (see sample forms).
Call, text, or page your staff when you are ready to begin. You MUST have a staff present when you perform the biopsy.
The document below may be useful to you to keep track of everything you need to do with the biopsies, and if you've completed your tasks.

*update 2023: the EPIC interface is a little different, but the options are pretty much the same. One change though: you don't need to type anything when placing the sedation orders, just select the options, review it and sign it.
