***If you have both cytology AND core samples, deliver both to the cytology lab. ***
AFTER THE BIOPSY: SAMPLE DELIVERY
1. Pathology is in the Blake building room 354 (Floor 2). From double door entry to Radiology Intermediate Care Area (RICA) nearest consent room, walk straight out past CT waiting, until Blake stair 3, then up 1 level, turn right. If you are dropping off the sample only (i.e. no frozen) you can leave it in the window (Figure 1). Make sure you bring an extra label and log the specimen in the black notebook inside the window.
2. Drop off cytology specimens at the Cytology Lab on Warren 1, Room 113 (Figure 2 - working on fixing it). Go to the same staircase, only go down to level 1. Go down the hallway until you can turn right and pass in front of an elevator. Turn left onto the parallel hallway – you should see a gift shop, which you should keep to your RIGHT – if you find yourself walking towards the gift shop entrance, you have gone the wrong way. Walk all the way down to the end of the hallway, where you will see an exit in front of you – you are now in the Founders building. Now turn right, and walk to the end to the Warren building. Look for this doorway. Go inside, and look for Warren 113. After 5pm and on weekends, cytology specimens go to the Core lab. ***If you have both cytology AND core samples, deliver both to the cytology lab. ***
3. Drop off microbiology, cell count, and bone marrow biopsies/aspirates at the Microbiology and Core labs (Figure 3) - 5th floor Gray/Bigalow, use B elevator or walk up the same staircase. If you end up on a patient ward, you have gone the wrong way.
