Common keyboard Shortcuts (Microsoft Windows)

Ctrl + C (Copy): Copies selected text or items to the clipboard. This works universally across most applications for text, files, and other content.
Example: Select a paragraph in Microsoft Word or Google Docs and press Ctrl + C to copy it.
Ctrl + X (Cut): Removes selected text or items and places them on the clipboard. Use this when you want to move content.
Example 1: Select a file in File Explorer and press Ctrl + X to cut it, then Ctrl + V in a different folder to move it.
Example 2: Select a paragraph in Microsoft Word or Google Docs and press Ctrl + X to cut it, then Ctrl + V in a different location of the document.
Ctrl + V (Paste): Inserts the content from the clipboard into the current location. This is used in conjunction with Ctrl + C or Ctrl + X.
Example: After copying text with Ctrl + C, press Ctrl + V in an email to paste it.
Ctrl + Z (Undo): Reverses the last action performed. This is invaluable for correcting mistakes.
Example: If you accidentally delete a sentence in PowerPoint, press Ctrl + Z to bring it back.
Ctrl + Y (Redo): Reverses the last undo action. If you change your mind after undoing something, use this.
Example: After pressing Ctrl + Z to undo a deletion, press Ctrl + Y to delete it again.
Ctrl + A (Select All): Selects all items in the current window or document. Useful for quickly selecting all text in a document or all files in a folder.
Example: Press Ctrl + A in a Word document or Google Docs to select the entire document.
Alt + Tab (Switch Applications): Opens a display showing all running applications, allowing you to switch between them by pressing Tab while holding Alt. Release Alt to select the highlighted window.
Example: If you have Word, Excel, and a browser open, press Alt + Tab to quickly switch to Excel.
Windows key + D (Show Desktop): Minimizes all open windows and displays the desktop. Press it again to restore the windows.
Example: If you have many windows open and need to quickly access a file on your desktop, press Windows key + D.
Windows key + L (Lock Computer): Locks your computer, requiring a password or PIN to log back in. This is important for security when you step away from your computer.
