SkillsUSA Nationals have partnered with the CTE Coalition, which is made up of CTE partners and organizations to better serve you in these difficult times. Please go to www.ctecoalition.com to learn more. Additional partners will be joining us as we serve teachers. See official press release.

In response to the current medical concerns and restrictions affecting schools, training organizations and businesses, we would like to remind our NCCER network that virtual training is always an option. Instructor-led training may be conducted online through various platforms of your choice, such as Skype, Zoom and more. Please check with your organization to see which platform is approved and supported for use.

We know that current times are filled with challenges, and we have been working diligently to help make it easier. In addition to the online training options that Pearson has made available, we are pleased to offer remote proctoring and free of charge online testing for our craft module tests (knowledge only) from April 6 - May 15, 2020.

For all the details, including how to get started, eligibility requirements and more, visit here.

NIMS Online Testing

NIMS will be offering online testing opportunities to counter the evolving impact the Corona virus has on our credentialing environment.

  • The virtual testing sessions will be proctored by NIMS staff starting on April 20 through May 20, 2020.

  • There will be three testing sessions offered weekly (additional sessions will be added as needed).

  • Instructors, please email support@nims-skills.org to request the link to sign up candidates for an online testing session at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Your testing slot will be confirmed via email by NIMS support.

Candidate requirements for online testing:

  • Personal Computer with a built-in camera

  • Quiet surroundings

  • Late entry to the meeting will not be allowed

  • Sessions will be recorded

We have worked closely with our partners to pull together a comprehensive list of e-learning and digital resources to share with our instructors.

Extended Testing Time for Hands-On Performance

NIMS will extend the allowed time on all NIMS performance parts. An organization must:

  • First purchase the test(s) and/or subscription for each candidate.

  • Once purchased, the organization will need to assign an Evaluator for each part that a student is tasked to complete during the mandatory COVID-19 quarantine.

  • Once the Evaluator has been assigned, he/she will allow the student additional time needed to complete the hands-on portion of the credential.

Your continued support and patience is very much appreciated during these challenging times and we will do our best to be available to answer your concerns/needs. We will continue to update this page as we receive new information and resources.

NIMS - New Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Credentials Informational Webinar

We would like to take this opportunity to host an informational webinar on Tuesday, May 12 at 1:00 pm EST to review the new CAM credentials, the relevant Performance Measures, Preparation Guide, and other available resources.

NIMS announced the launch of the first-ever industry recognized Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) Credentials (CAM Milling Level 1 and CAM Turning Level 1) sponsored by Autodesk Inc. and based on the rigorous CAM standards developed over the course of a multi-year intensive nationwide validation process. CAM is the first set of NIMS credentials to use our new Performance Measure (PM) Development Requirements for the hands-on component of the credential. This new training model allows schools and employers to customize their credentialing experience by using their own projects to validate performance for NIMS credentials, as long as they meet minimum NIMS requirements.

Click Here to Register for the Webinar. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. If you are unable to attend live, there will be a recording sent out to all those who register. Please register even if you can not attend but would like to receive the recording.

Please contact cam@nims-skills.org with any questions and we look forward to connecting with you on the webinar.
