Document-Based Questions (DBQ) test students' ability to think historically using documentary evidence. (see AP p 109) Your group you will create a DBQ, keeping in mind the AP course themes and periodization outlined in the AP World History curriculum. You should also consider how your question addresses the four historical thinking skills outlined in the AP course description. They are:
1. Crafting Historical Arguments from Historical Evidence
2. Chronological Reasoning
3. Comparison and Contextualization
4. Historical Interpretation and Synthesis
You will create a Google site (see "Document Based Question Pages in the left-hand menu for step-by-step instructions) with your original DBQ and supporting primary documents. Refer to the HIS 370 Library Guide for online resources. You may use Google Documents to link your primary sources to the subpage or embed them directly. You must complete your DBQ subpage by March 1. Your group will then answer and evaluate the DBQ of your assigned peer review group. You should write your answer in a Google Document and share the link on that group's subpage. Also, evaluate the DBQ itself, offering constructive criticism in the comments field. The DBQ Peer Review reflects the AP guidelines for DBQ questions, that is 55 minutes for the question including a 15 minute reading period.
As always, provide Chicago-style references for your primary documents. Use the sample DBQ in the AP curriculum as a guide.
You will present your own DBQ and your experience as a group (see course schedule for dates). All parts of the project MUST be completed on this site by March 8 for grading.
