Students for Smiles is a national organization dedicated to bringing awareness to cleft lip and palate around the world, while raising funds for the international non-profit Smile Train. In addition to providing 100% free cleft repair to children in more than 85 developing countries, Smile Train also supports patients with comprehensive cleft care with the assistance of local medical professionals. Their medical services consist of but are not limited to speech therapy, orthodontic care, emotional support, and nutritional care. Their model not only empowers medical professionals, but also provides children with the opportunity to lead productive and enriched lives.
Cal State Fullerton's Students for Smiles chapter is committed to furthering the mission of Smile Train by providing students with informational workshops as well as fundraising and volunteer opportunities. Through community outreach, students will be able to advocate for the awareness and needs of children with cleft lip and palate and become partners in impacting thousands of lives!
CSUF Students for Smiles is for anyone interested in learning about the cleft community and/or pursuing a career that involves working with these incredible individuals. Popular disciplines that members study are Communication Sciences and Disorders, Pre-Dentistry, and Allied Health, however, anyone is welcome to join.

In addition to Smile Train, CSUF Students for Smiles is also a subchapter of Cal State Fullerton's National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA). NSSLHA is an organization for pre-professional students within the Communication Sciences and Disorders and Audiology majors. This rewarding partnership allows members to broaden their knowledge of these associated disciplines through NSSHLA, while also taking a deeper focus into the cleft community. As a subchapter, we aim to provide students with resources that will not only enhance their education but also spark their excitement to work with an amazing community of people!
