INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY
INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY
Instruction:
Watch the video carefully and after watching, answer the guide questions provided below.
At the end of the lesson the learners should be able to:
Analyze and interpret task/work plans and requirements to effectively prepare for task execution.
Value the importance of proper planning and preparation by demonstrating a proactive and organized approach to their tasks through a reflection paper.
Demonstrate the ability to organize resources, tools, and workspace for task execution through a self-paced planning and preparation simulation.
Assessment and Planning
This lesson explores the what, how, and why of assessment and planning, emphasizing their interconnectedness and importance in achieving desired outcomes. We'll examine how these processes work together in a cyclical fashion, informing and improving each other
I. What are Assessment and Planning?

Assessment: The process of gathering information about something. This "something" could be student learning, project progress, community needs, or the effectiveness of a program. It involves collecting data, analyzing it, and interpreting the results to understand the current situation. Think of it as taking a snapshot of where you are.
Planning: The process of deciding what you want to achieve (goals), and how you will achieve it (strategies, actions, resources). It involves setting objectives, outlining steps, and allocating resources to reach those objectives. Think of it as creating a roadmap to your desired destination.

II. How to Conduct Assessment and Planning:
This section breaks down the process into manageable steps, highlighting the cyclical nature of assessment and planning.
A. Assessment Phase:
Define the Purpose: What do you want to learn? What questions are you trying to answer? Clearly defining the purpose guides the entire assessment process. For example, are you assessing student understanding of fractions, or the impact of a new marketing campaign?
Choose Methods: Select appropriate methods for gathering data. This could include:
Quantitative: Surveys, tests, performance data, statistical analysis.
Qualitative: Interviews, focus groups, observations, case studies.
Mixed Methods: Combining both quantitative and qualitative approaches for a more comprehensive understanding.
Collect Data: Implement the chosen methods and gather the necessary information. Ensure data collection is ethical and respects privacy.
Analyze Data: Examine the collected data to identify patterns, trends, and insights. This often involves organizing, summarizing, and interpreting the information.
Interpret Results: What does the data tell you? What are the key findings? Relate the findings back to the original purpose of the assessment.
B. Planning Phase:
Set Goals and Objectives: Based on the assessment results, define clear and measurable goals. Objectives are the specific steps needed to achieve those goals. Use the SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound). For example, a goal might be "Improve student math performance," while an objective could be "Increase the percentage of students scoring proficient or above on the math test by 10% by the end of the semester."
Develop Strategies and Actions: Determine the best approaches to achieve the objectives. This involves brainstorming, researching best practices, and considering available resources. What actions need to be taken? Who is responsible? What resources are needed?
Allocate Resources: Identify and allocate the necessary resources (e.g., time, budget, personnel, materials) to support the planned activities.
Create an Implementation Plan: Develop a detailed plan that outlines the specific steps, timelines, responsibilities, and resources required for implementation.

Objective: To understand the importance of preparing a safe and organized workspace when opening and working with a computer's system unit. The activity will focus on organizing the workspace, organizing set of tools and materials and creating a checklist for proper task execution.
Note: Be sure to document each important step by taking clear photos. Create your own folder and upload the images to the link below.
Computer (desktop system unit)
Screwdriver (usually a small Phillips-head)
Anti-static wrist strap (optional but recommended)
Cleaning supplies (microfiber cloth, compressed air, or soft brush)
Flashlight or a light source
Notebook and pen (for noting observations)
Gloves (optional, for added protection)
A flat, clean surface (desk or table)
TAKE NOTE: IF MATERIALS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, YOU CAN BE CREATIVE AND MAKE AN ALTERNATIVE WAY (for ex. print out a picture of the material you are lacking)
Prepare Your Workspace
Task 1.1: Choose a clean and quiet area for your work. Make sure there is enough space for your system unit and tools. A table or desk is ideal.
Task 1.2: Ensure the workspace is well-lit so you can clearly see inside the system unit.
Task 1.3: Create a detailed checklist of your work.
Organize Tools and Materials
Task 2.1: Gather the necessary tools: screwdriver, anti-static wrist strap (if available), cleaning supplies, flashlight, and gloves. Place them within easy reach.
