The movement of skilled nationals includes the right of certain categories of CARICOM Nationals under Article 46 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas to seek employment in all CSME Member States without the need to obtain a work permit in the Member State in which she/he desires to work.
The eligible CARICOM Nationals have to apply for a Certificate of Recognition of CARICOM Skills Qualification (CARICOM Skills Certificate). This can be done in any of the CSME participating Member States.
The CARICOM Skills Certificate is a key document for CARICOM Nationals seeking to work in other CARICOM Member States.
Holders of a CARICOM Skills Certificate are exempted from work permit requirements.
Spouse and dependent relatives of skilled nationals would be entitled to move to the new country with the skilled national.
The CARICOM Skills Certificate is valid for life.
The CARICOM Skills Certificate is applicable only within the following CARICOM Member States that participate in the CSME (Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago)
The following categories of skilled workers are currently free to live and work in any CARICOM Country participating in the CSME:
Graduates / University Degree Holders (associate's, bachelor's or higher)
Media Professionals
Artists
Musicians
Sportspersons
Nurses
Teachers
Artisans with a Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ)
Domestic Workers
Agricultural Workers
Private Security Officers
Persons having any of these qualifications may apply for a CARICOM Skills Certificate.

Birth Certificate
Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
Three Passport sized photographs
Academic certificates or proof of skills (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Application for New Skills Certificate - $225.00 BZD
Dependents under the age of 18 - $50.00 BZD (per dependent)
Dependents over the age of 18 - $100.00 BZD (per dependent)
Replacement of Skills Certificate - $50.00 BZD
Your documents will be assessed for eligibility.
Processing time is approximately eight (8) weeks.
Once approved, you will receive your CARICOM Skills Certificate.
Once your CARICOM Skills Certificate is verified, you may be granted an indefinite stay stamp in the participating Member State.
You can live and work in the country without a work permit.
You can remain in the country long-term.
You can carry out everyday activities like opening a bank account.
Holder of Certificates are given a minimum of six months in the host country until their status and documents could be verified.
It is recommended that you travel with your qualification certificates and other supporting documents. Additional documents required if traveling with spouse and dependents include a Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificates, verification of relationship to dependents.
Visit the Immigration Department of Belize in Belmopan to have your certificate verified.
Once verified and confirmed as authentic, you may be granted an indefinite stay stamp.
This allows you to live and work in Belize without a work permit.
