Project description:
In this assignment, I researched social medias impact on society and described how social media impacted me and my opinion on it, I also took a quiz to find out whether or not I was addicted to social media.
Social media statistic:
The number of social media user identities are 4.8 billion.
Social medias impact on society:
In my opinion, social media has a very harmful impact on society, because of the extreme usage that many people have with social media, it interferes with their ability to stay motivated and do important tasks. Social media also has affected society in the way we socialize with others. There is less and less people that know their neighbors or that can socialize properly with others in real life due to the isolation that social media has caused for many.
Lessons learned:
Doing this assignment has made me become more aware of social medias impact on society and all of the differences it has made in peoples lives. It has also taught me that I should stay away from social media to avoid the negative effects it could possibly have on me.
Social media addiction quiz results:
After taking the "am I addicted to social media" quiz, my results showed me that I was not addicted to social media. "Congratulations! Psychologists estimate that as many as 5 to 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction today. But luckily, that's not you! Not checking social media every few minutes doesn't make you feel anxious, as you prefer to live 'in the moment' rather than through your apps. You use social media to your advantage, at work and to connect with friends and family, but you know when to put it away. Keep it up!" (timetologoff 2023)
