I did research on the impacts of social media and the impacts of it
Social Media Addiction Survey Results
My results for '"Am I ADDICTED to social media?" quiz showed that I have a healthy relationship. "Congratulations! Psychologists estimate that as many as 5 to 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction today. But luckily, that's not you! Not checking social media every few minutes doesn't make you feel anxious, as you prefer to live 'in the moment' rather than through your apps. You use social media to your advantage, at work and to connect with friends and family, but you know when to put it away. Keep it up!" This made me happy since I have been trying to limit myself for over a year now, being disciplined worked out.
Interesting Social Media Statistic
It's interesting that YouTube has passed Facebook, which used to be the most popular social media site for adults. I chose this because I spend a lot of time on YouTube to learn new things, have fun, and keep up with the news. YouTube is popular with people of all ages because it has both educational and fun content, unlike other social media sites that only focus on social interaction.
Social Media's Impact on Society
Social media can combine educational and recreational content, which might explain its broad appeal across age groups. Social media has positives and negatives: on the negative side, it can lead to psychological issues, anxiety, isolation, and even catfishing, as people often feel self-conscious or dissatisfied when comparing themselves to others, On the positive side, social media is a powerful tool for promoting businesses, raising awareness about global events or issues, and creating opportunities for networking. While I think social media was originally founded to connect and educate people, overuse can lead to addiction unfortunately, especially among younger generations who may miss out on real-world experiences. While we try to improve technology more social media app or websites will sprout to Cator to people's needs.
Lessons Learned
Social media can be both great and harmful. It’s a useful tool for school, with many people sharing helpful notes and resources. However, it can also become addictive, distracting us from important tasks. Through this project, I realized how much time I used to spend on social media and learned that most teens use it daily.
