What I learned

I learned that even a little bit of online activity can give away a lot of personal information, like your address and family details if posted. Anything you post with your name on it is not really private, which made me realize how important it is to keep track of my digital footprint. It's very important for me to know what I share online so I can protect my reputation and future chances. 

Terms

Search Query 

• A keyword or phrase entered into a search engine to find information on the internet 

Natural Language Query 

• A search query phrased in everyday, conversational language (e.g., “What’s the weather today?”) rather than keywords. 

Spider (as related to the World Wide Web) 

• A program (also called a crawler) that systematically browses the web to index pages for search engines. 

Digital Footprint 

• The trail of data you leave behind when using the internet, including posts, searches, and online activity. 

What is a file as it relates to computers? 

• A file is a container in a computer that stores data or information, like a document, image, or program. 

File Extension 

• The suffix at the end of a file name (like .docx, .jpg) that indicates the file type. 

Zip File 

• A compressed file format that reduces file size and can contain one or more files or folders. 

Saas 

• A software delivery model where applications are hosted online and accessed through the internet (e.g., Google Docs). 

Digital Bubble 

• A situation where a person only encounters information or opinions that reflect and reinforce their own beliefs, often due to personalized algorithms. 

Generative AI 

• Artificial intelligence systems that create new content like text, images, or music based on input prompts. 

Prompt (as related to AI) 

• Input text or instructions given to an AI system to generate a response or content. 

What is the difference between the Internet and the WWW? 

• Internet: The global network of interconnected computers. 

• WWW (World Wide Web): A service running on the Internet that uses websites and hyperlinks to access information. 

Browser 

• A software application (like Chrome, Firefox) used to access and view websites on the internet. 

URL 

• The address used to access resources on the web, like "CSIT 101 Digital Notes Creation” 

Unit 3 

Digital Ethics 

• Guidelines for responsible and respectful behavior online, including honesty, privacy, and respectful communication. 

AUP (Acceptable Use Policy)  

• A set of rules provided by an organization that governs how users may use its digital resources, like computers, networks, or the Internet. 

Accessibility 

• The practice of making digital content usable for people with disabilities, such as screen readers, captions, or adjustable text sizes. 

Plagiarism  

• Using someone else’s work or ideas without proper credit, presenting it as your own. 

Copyright  

• A legal protection giving creators exclusive rights to use, distribute, and control their original work. 

Creative Commons  

• A licensing system that allows creators to share their work with specific permissions, like allowing reuse or modification under certain conditions.
