Emerging Technology

Intro

In this unit, we looked at various emerging technologies that are having an impact on our civilization. Emerging technologies have unrealized potential but we are making efforts to develop them further. Emerging technologies appear in all sorts of fields including tech, aerospace, finance, and even nutrition. Emerging technologies may shape the world in the future.

Project Description

In this project, we selected one emerging technology that was relevant to our degree focus. We then researched the topic and created a PowerPoint presentation on the data we gathered. This projects helps us to familiarize ourselves with technology that may be extremely relevant to our fields in the future. I selected Blockchain as my emerging technology because of its relevance in finance and economics.

Lessons Learned

Blockchain was a very hard topic to research and understand since it combines aspects of cryptography, programming, mathematics, and economics. There are many intricacies , nuances, and complex systems at play in most blockchains. They also come in a variety of different forms based on their intended use cases. I tried to focus more on blockchain usage in developing cryptocurrencies because its been brought up so much in economics. I really wanted to understand the topic better and I feel like I have a basic grasp of how these systems are operating.
