To use Google News and search for two recent news articles dealing with Cybersecurity issues.
This article talks about a phishing scam text that was sent out to a large group of people in hopes that some of them would be AT&T customers and click the link. Phishing means attempting to gain access to someone's personal information or accounts through fraudulent message, emails, or texts. The fraudulent text describes that the person's AT&T rewards points are expiring and should click the link, "act fast" and to use them before they expire. It's important to not click on the link provided and go directly to your AT&T account to check on rewards from there. The key phrases of having a false sense of urgency such as "act fast" or "respond immediately" are typical of phishing scams. So be aware! And, I didn't even know that AT&T had a rewards program so that right there would have raised some red flags for me!

This article informs the reader about a company called SitusAMC, which is a vendor used by many major banks to manage their real-estate loans and mortgages. Hackers broke into its systems on Nov. 12 and stole data that included banks’ accounting records and legal agreements, as well as sensitive personal information belonging to some of those banks’ customers. The incident was contained and no encrypting malware or ransomware was involved. It doesn't specifically say how it happened, but to prevent further attacks, they can strengthen their networking security and reinforce employee cybersecurity training.

There are so many news articles regarding cybersecurity in the news! In addition to the two current events that I found, I also found some articles just informing individuals on how to prevent certain threats with their own devices. Google News is a great resource I will definitely use again!
