Teachers, Educational Assistants, coaches, administration or anyone involved with a student group or program should get involved with the Sturgeon Heights Student Expo! We would like it if ALL the different and diverse areas were involved in the Sturgeon Heights Student Success Expo (from extra curricular sports, clubs, academic, vocational, optional, and individual classes). If you have seen your students here doing great work or showing great skills, then they can have the opportunity to showcase it at the expo! If you don't know what the Student Success Expo is - look at the main page of this website (to read or watch videos about the event)
You can start by thinking about the ways to get involved (see below) and asking your program/class, club, or other group you are part of here at Sturgeon Heights: "would you like to be a part of the Student Success Expo?". You and your students can be involved in multiple ways or combinations of ways. Some of the various ways you could be involved include:
Request a table to setup a "booth" to showcase and celebrate your student's work and skills, talk about that program or extra curricular activity to those who are interested (e.g. English projects, Basketball team, Lego club, etc.), and see if your students will represent at the “booth” with examples of their work or just willing to talk to other students and parents about the great work they have done
For example booths could be setup like a science fair “booth” of student work; or a "Comic Con" style booth with artifacts, posters, laptops running videos; or an interactive booth where students can "try out" things, or whatever you feel best represents the student's successful work
Another idea is to create a mini competition (in your specific area) of students competing against each other or in teams to showcase their skills (e.g. a “top chef” competition in the food area)
Help judge a competition for the expo
Take your class to tour the expo
Still want to be involved? but none of these apply to you, or you have thought of your own way to be involved, or you have thought of another way to celebrate your student's success? - then, come see Mr. Wachs in room B5! (or email him at mrLWachs@gmail.com)
You can help with promoting this event including:
Discussing the Success Expo in class, and gauging if your students would like to be involved and showcase their amazing work they are doing in your area
Promoting the event, discussing it, pointing out things like posters starting to appear around the school as we approach the event date
Showing students promotional videos including ones on the monitors around the school and during morning announcements (like this one)
Teachers talking to students during class and inviting them to participate
Before the event occurs, let us know that you want a "space" for a booth. One way is to fill out this survey to indicate interest. It will let us know that you are participating and if you need any equipment (table, laptop, etc.). Now you need to decide how you want to set up for the expo. It is entirely up to you how you showcase your students but ideas could include:
A table and make a sign indicating which area you are showcasing (e.g. English projects, Basketball team, etc.) and students at the “booth” with examples of their work or just willing to talk to other students and parents about the great work they have done
A mini competition in your area of students competing against each other or in teams to showcase their skills (e.g. a “top chef” competition in the food area)
Set up displays (like a science fair) at a “booth” of student work
Indicate on the same survey what your needs are for your display in the floor plan of the expo (like this sample floor plan from a past expo)
Also, you need to help get your students involved (committed to participate) and excited about the event (either participating or the chance to tour the expo) by talking and hyping the event in your classes. Approach students and ask them “Would you like to represent our class in the Student Success Expo?”
If you have questions or are not sure, please come see Mr. Wachs in room B5! (or email him at mrLWachs@gmail.com)
No you do not need to have it in the main floor hallway, we are anticipating that many areas will have "breakout" tours and signs directing people touring the expo to those areas (like you own rooms/labs/shops/etc.)
It certainly is best if we try and contain the expo to the main floor hallways (to make it more of an "experience" like a convention), but we understand that doesn't work best for some areas
You can also have both - by having a table/booth on the main floor and then a "breakout" tour to your area as well
The Student Success Expo will take place on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026
No, if you are not participating you can have your classes as normal, but if you have students in your classes who are participating and showcasing their work/skills for other classes they might be registered in – then they might be excused from your class for the afternoon. However, you are more than welcome to come down at some point during the afternoon (and bring/supervise your class) to tour the expo.
Yes, just let us know and if you need any resources (table, power cord, laptops, etc.) and start getting students excited and involved!
