Grading policy

  1. Research work: 70%

    • Project proposal (only presentation): 15%*

    • Progress update (only presentation): 20%*

    • Final outcome (presentation with report): 35%*

  2. Term-final exam: 20%*

  3. Paper presentation: 10%*

Deliverable of the project work:

In the course project, you need to do a research work (worth of doing within a semester). There will be four checkpoints for this work -

  1. Project proposal [5-10 minutes ppt presentation]: Due within 3rd week

  2. Progress update [5-10 minutes ppt presentation]: Due just after mid-term

  3. Final presentation [15-20 minutes ppt presentation]: Due within the penultimate week

  4. Project report [A paper-style report on the project work in Latex following IEEE paper format]

Evaluation will be made based on the above deliverable. For instructions on preparing the deliverable, please visit Guidelines.

** All presentations MUST be in English.

Possible topics for paper presentations:

  1. Survey on different aspects of network attacks, defense mechanisms, security analysis, secured system development, security testing, etc.

  2. Recent (NOT earlier than two years back) advancements in network security.

  3. Sources: Either a top-tier conference such as ACM CCS, NDSS, USENIX Security, Infocom, Sigcom, etc., or a top-ranked journal such as IEEE TDSC.
