Chinese Language School of Baton Rouge (CLSBR)

Chinese Language School of Baton Rouge (CLSBR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the Chinese language and culture in the local community, founded in 1996 by the Chinese Friendship Association of Baton Rouge (CFABR). We currently have over 10 dedicated teachers and approximately 50 enrolled students.

Our core curriculum focuses on Mandarin Chinese (Simplified), with leveled classes from beginner to advanced. We also offer a variety of enrichment classes such as introductory art, dance, and taekwondo, allowing students to explore their interests and talents.

In recent years, we have expanded our offerings to include two specialized math electives, which have become a unique highlight of our program:

• Elementary Math Fundamentals: Tailored for younger students, this class builds a strong foundation in math concepts through engaging modules like numbers, shapes, and patterns, fostering confidence and curiosity.

• Middle School Math Competition Prep: Designed for upper-grade students, this course incorporates elements of national-level math competitions and emphasizes deep problem-solving strategies and analytical thinking.

Our programs create meaningful opportunities for cross-cultural interaction, connecting American and Chinese cultures and supporting students’ holistic development in language, logic, and creativity.

贝城中文学校成立于1996年，是由贝城华人友协发起的一个非营利组织。目前拥有十余位热心且专业的教师，在校学生约50人。

学校以中文教育为核心，提供从启蒙到高级的普通话（简体中文）课程，由具有中文母语背景和丰富教学经验的教师授课。此外，我们也开设了丰富的兴趣班，如初级绘画、舞蹈和跆拳道，为学生提供多元发展的平台。

近年来，学校进一步拓展了课程设置，特别增设了两门数学选修课，成为本地中文学校中的一大特色：

• 小学数学基础课：针对中低年级学生，注重数学概念的建立，通过图形、数量、模式等模块激发学习兴趣，打好扎实基础。

• 中学数学竞赛预备班：为高年级学生设计，课程结合数学竞赛核心内容，提升学生的抽象思维与解题能力，具有较强挑战性和系统性。

我们致力于为各国背景的家庭提供积极互动的学习环境，在中美文化之间搭建桥梁，帮助学生在语言、艺术、思维等多个方面全面成长。

We believe in diversity, equity & inclusion that enrich the educational experience of our local community since Chinese (Mandarin) has become an important element of thriving diversity. Our specially designed language program provides families an opportunity to interact across multiple cultures with positivity. In our program, all age groups (K-6, adults) from different ethnic backgrounds are given an affordable access to study Mandarin as well as to experience Chinese traditions and cultures.
