Hui Lehua

Hui Lehua o Kamawila is a collaborative hula group dedicated to preserving and sharing Hawaiian dance traditions in Somerville, MA and throughout the New England area. Their name honors the lehua flower which blooms in adverse conditions. The 'Ohi'a Lehua plant is one of the first to colonize a freshly-cooled lava flow. 

Bhumi's Bollywood Dance Group

Bollywood Dancing is one of the most versatile dancing styles around that brings together dance styles from India and around the world to create its own unique technique. Music is the soul of Bollywood dancing and ranges from Indian classical, modern to world fusion like Hip Hop, Latin, Jazz etc

Urban Khmer Ballet

Urban Khmer Ballet is a groundbreaking Cambodian dance troupe that unveils the generational complexities of traditional and conservative art and ignites a critical conversation on post colonialism and neoclassicism. Witness their beautifully executed journey of becoming at Saturday's event.

Aftab Dance Group

The name “Aftab” is a Farsi term that means Sun. 

Aftab Dance Group shares their passion for Iranian culture with the community and brings an audience together by way of dance. TThe group is run by students and young professionals in the Boston area and has been performing for over 15 years. Aftab hopes audiences can experience the beauty of Iran’s diverse and rich culture through a medley of traditional and modern Iranian dance.

When they needed to name the group before their first performance, one of the original members looked up at the sun which was emerging through the rain and clouds, felt it was very applicable to us, and subsequently named the group on the spot.
